The reason we do what we do
Medicines Development's purpose is to improve the health of people in resource poor settings through the development and delivery of low cost medicines and vaccines.
Medicines Development was founded to develop and deliver medicines and vaccines to those most in need. We apply our expertise in medicine development to products that have the potential to be life changing for the most vulnerable in our society, marrying the processes, methods and rigor of the pharmaceutical industry with philanthropy to develop new products swiftly and efficiently. All Medicines Development's funds in excess of expenses are devoted to this purpose.
Our focus is on medicines targeting infectious diseases and cancer. Unlike profit-based companies, we are able to consider licensing medicines and vaccines that may have limited commercial opportunity, and yet address important unmet medical needs. Medicines Development then applies the same rigorous procedural and regulatory standards to produce affordable licensed medicines and vaccines.
Our model is to use differential pricing; "profits" from those areas where profit can be charged will be used to further reduce the cost of the medicines and vaccines to those who can least afford them. The funds for Medicines Development's philanthropic work comes from the delivery of best practice development management.
Our decision to develop medicines for those most in need is our choice and does not affect our service delivery to your development program. Our philanthropic activities are resourced and managed separately from our development management service provision to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Medicines Development is seeking partnerships with like minded groups in the research, development and delivery of products for the resource poor settings. If you would like to help us or make a contribution to our work, we would be very grateful for your support. Please contact us for further information.
Medicines Development is a registered, not-for-profit charity.
